I’VE had a very busy week this week!

I attended the unveiling of the Urmston Mural, which was created by pupils of Wellacre Academy, Saint Antony`s Catholic College and Urmston Grammar School.

It was made to commemorate the birth of the NHS at Park Hospital in Davyhulme 70 years ago, now known as Trafford General.

I was thrilled to be an invited guest by local Urmston and Stretford MP Kate Green and I had a lovely morning meeting the students who had painted it and all those from Urmston in Bloom and Urmston Partnership who arranged the event.

Messenger Newspapers:

The Mural looks fantastic and can be found on the wall opposite the Barking Dog pub on Higher Road in Urmston. Well done to all involved.

Also this week, it was an honour to have been invited to spend the day at my old school, Wellacre Academy, where I spent the day teaching year 7s all about the singing and acting profession by giving drama workshops.

The students particularly liked the stage fighting classes I gave and took a bit too much pleasure in beating up their guest tutor - but all in good fun!

Messenger Newspapers:

We ended the day with an assembly where I talked to the students about the many benefits of doing community and charity work, followed by a sing-a-long of New York, New York.

I must say what a fantastic bunch of lads I met, who all did their school proud by being respectful and polite young men. I was made very welcome by both the staff and by the students, who really are a credit to Wellacre. What a wonderful day!

At the weekend I was very proud to again be invited to be Master of Ceremonies and to perform at the NHS Party in the Park celebrating the 70th birthday of our NHS at Golden Hill Park in Urmston.

It was a beautiful day in the sunshine with lots of stalls and entertainment for the whole family. Special guests on the day were Kate Green MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Health Jonathan Ashworth, who presented awards to NHS staff.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Trafford also attended and actor John Henshaw who gave a straight talking speech in support of our NHS.

The event, organised by Joanne Harding, was a total success with all proceeds raised on the day going to the Cyril Flint charity and Age UK Trafford, to support projects that work to reduce loneliness. A brilliant event that was enjoyed by all.

Join me next week for another busy week, including Trafford Live!
