AT the weekend, I was thrilled to be invited back to my old junior school, Woodhouse Primary, in Davyhulme to perform at the annual summer fair.
It was a lovely day in the sunshine and I was made to feel very welcome.
I have returned to Woodhouse on several occasions to support the school who always put on a great summer fair for the whole community to enjoy.
It was also nice to bump into the Malone family there, who you may recognise from the television series Gogglebox.
After Woodhouse, I caught a little of the World Cup before heading to the Principal Hotel in Manchester for the Butterfly Ball.
The ball raised funds for Beechwood Cancer Care, which supports families and friends through cancer, serious illness and bereavement.
The charity supports many families from the Trafford area free of charge and relies on events like the Butterfly Ball to raise vital funds.
After watching the very emotional presentation to the evening, I kicked off the entertainment by performing a one-hour Rat Pack set which had lots of couples up on the dance floor. Guests were treated to a three-course meal and there was a raffle and an auction. After the meal, the Diane Shaw Band hit the stage, and they were amazing!
The final figure raised at the ball is expected to exceed last year’s target of £25,000.
Event organiser Angela Gray said: “It was amazing to have Wayne supporting the Butterfly Ball. He had the room entertained from his first note and the audience were singing along. He really set the atmosphere for the evening.”
