ALTRINCHAM Garrick Playhouse is to present Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem, a dark, adult comedy containing strong language for its next production.
It’s St George’s Day, the morning of the local county fair and Johnny “Rooster” Byron, waster and modern day Pied Piper is a wanted man.
The council officials want to serve him an eviction notice, his son wants him to take him to the fair, Troy Whitworth wants to give him a serious kicking and a motley crew of mates are after his ample supply of drugs and alcohol.
This extraordinary play breaks every rule in the book.
* Jerusalem is at Altrincham Garrick Theatre from March 19 to 24. For tickets, telephone 0161 928 1677, option 1.
