A HOSPICE is set to benefit from a cash which was raised by Freemasons in Cheshire.

The grant to St Ann’s Hospice totals £3,340 and came through the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

It will be used to ensure that those who most need hospice support in the area can access it.

St Ann’s chief executive Eamonn O’Neal said: “We’re a charity that has been providing care to local people for almost half a century and we simply couldn’t do so without the support of our generous donors.

This latest donation from the Freemasons will make a real difference in helping us to open up hospice care to even more local people.

The Freemasons spokesman, Stephen Blank, from Altrincham, said: “I’m very pleased we’ve been able to assist St Ann’s Hospice.

“They do an outstanding job helping people with life-limiting illnesses, as well as supporting their families through very difficult times.

"These grants from our central charity, the MCF, are in addition to grants that will be made to some of these and other hospices across Cheshire by the independent Cheshire Freemasons’ Charity, as well as individual lodges and Freemasons.”

Mr O’Neal added: “Hospice care has evolved so much in recent years and is no longer confined to a single building.

“We offer specialist support to people with life-limiting illnesses right from the point of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond, and from multiple locations, be that one of our three hospice sites or via our outreach and community services.

“We can only do that thanks to the generosity of local people and organisations, so huge thanks to Cheshire Freemasons on behalf of all of our patients and their families.”
