FLIXTON Brass Band came third out of 21 bands in the North West Area championships held at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool last weekend.
Publicity officer Andy Dodd said: “We are pleased because this means we’ve been promoted to the first section and have qualified for the national finals later this year.”
Its sister band, Flixton Community Band is holding an Open Day at the John Alker Club, Flixton Road, Flixton, on Saturday, March 3, from 10am to 1 pm. Just drop in between those times.
It is aimed at prospective players with little or no experience of brass bands or their instruments.
Not only will there be an opportunity to have a blow at a musical instrument but also a chance to experience a live performance
Flixton Community Band was formed in 2013. Rehearsals are held at Flixton Junior School, Delamere Road, Flixton on Saturdays from 10am to noon.
Musicians of any level are welcome.
