A COLLEGE principal has been appointed to an independent national body which maintains standards among examinations and vocational qualifications.
Lesley Davies, the principal and chief executive of Trafford College, was appointed as a member of the Board of Ofqual (the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) by The Secretary of State for Education Damian Hinds, himself a former pupil of St Ambrose Grammar School, Altrincham.
Before being appointed to Trafford College in 2016, her educational career spanned more than 25 years, working first as a teacher and manager in general further education, before moving into inspection and policy development
She worked for the Association of Colleges where she was deputy chief executive and was senior vice-president at Pearson UK.
She is the current chairman of both the UK Skills Partnership and the Trafford Youth Trust
After her appointment she said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to this role and look forward to contributing to the work of the Ofqual board."
