THE people of Sale must be applauded for turning out in record numbers to attend the Annual Service of Remembrance on Sunday, November 12 at the Sale Town Centre War Memorial in what may have been Trafford’s largest Service.

Also no one can recall when there were over 1,000 taking part in the massive parade to demonstrate that those who had paid the ultimate sacrifice were certainly not forgotten.

An unbelievable 70 wreaths were laid by local organisations who were eager to demonstrate their members support and deep feelings.

The veterans on parade were proudly wearing their campaign medals and rightly drew the loudest applause as the parade marched passed the town hall steps, but the staggering number of young people on parade including cadets, scouts, guides and brownies who took part brought a tear to many eyes and were very evidence that our young people really care.

It was a wonderful service and a marvellous occasion. An amazing tribute by the whole of our community.
