THREE students from Timperley and Sale received special awards from The Lord Mayor of the City of Manchester during their graduation ceremony from Abbey College Manchester.

The event, held at Manchester Town Hall on Wednesday May 3, saw Rhea Kamath, 18, from Moss Lane, Timperley, Henna Rennie, 19, of Badger Road, Timperley and Euan Lucas,18, from Ashton Lane, Sale, receive their graduation certificates and special Abbey College Manchester awards from Councillor Carl Austin-Behan.

Euan received an Attainment Award for his high academic attainment and Rhea and Henna both received Progress Awards for showing the most development over the time they have been at the college.

Euan commented: “It is fantastic that the three of us have been selected to receive these special awards as we all work very hard. Abbey College Manchester provides fantastic support and has been essential to helping us all get to this point.”

Rhea has received offers from Durham University and the University of Manchester to study Geography while Henna has had offers from Plymouth University and the University of Birmingham to study Dental Surgery. Euan wants to study Physics and has been offered a place at both the University of Manchester and the University of Surrey.

The Principal at Abbey College Manchester, Liz Elam said: “Rhea, Henna and Euan are all exceptional students who deserved some recognition for their hard work. They will all go on to do different things but they will excel and we wish them all the best.”
