THE police swooped in on a suspicious package last week after postal workers detected a whiff of cannabis coming from inside – but they were surprised when they ‘quacked’ it open.
Officers were called to Royal Mail offices in Altrincham on Thursday after the alarm was raised that a parcel that had come through for delivery smelled of cannabis.
However, it wasn’t the drugs bust the ‘old bill’ had bargained for.
On opening the package very carefully, officers found a wooden duck inside.
A spokesperson for GMP Trafford South said: “It's great that the Royal Mail are so vigilant as drugs are often found in parcels, however in this case it wasn't worth getting our feathers in a flap and sticking our beaks in!”
