TIMPERLEY student Alex Mcintosh has really been banging the drum for charity.

The Abbey College Manchester student performed at a show at the Unitarian Chapel, Cross Street, which raised £400 was raised for the Young Minds charity.

The group helps improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people.

Hundreds turned out to see the students shine as they delivered a mixture of singing, dancing, instrumental performances, dramatic renditions, and modelled the latest trends from their home countries.

Guests were also treated to a variety of musical renditions belted out by the college’s staff choral group the Abbey Singers.

A-level mathematics, physics and chemistry student Alex, 18, of Moss Lane, said: “The show was amazing and it was a fantastic night. I loved that I was given the opportunity to showcase my talents on the drums and it is so exciting to see my classmates showing their skills to the rest of us and the whole event brings the college closer together.”

Abbey College Manchester principal Liz Elam said: “Alex is an exceptional drummer and had the whole audience wanting more, which is a difficult feat for anyone let alone someone who plays the drums.

“Every student did a fantastic job and it was brilliant to see such a variety of creativity amongst the students. It is the perfect way to enable the strengthening of the college community.”
