AN actress who grew up in Old Trafford is to star alongside one of Hollywood's leading men, the Oscar nominated Michael Fassbender, in a film called Trespass Against Us.

While the film will be released in 2016, Lyndsey Marshal's latest assignment is much closer to HOME.

The 37-year-old is to appear as Clytennestra in an adaptation of Aeschylus play The Oresteia by the poet Ted Hughes at Manchester's news arts venue.

Billed as a 'bloody chain of murder and revenge' Lyndsey said Clytennestra is a dream role for any actress.

She said: "Its one of the biggest parts you can play and one of the most challenging. Its a really exciting an epic part. Its been an honour to try and achieve it."

The former Old Trafford Junior School and Lostock High School pupil said its great to be back in her native city and she recalls with fondness her time at Manchester Youth Theatre.

She added: "Its also exciting to be part of this new theatre. Its just opened and there are a lot of amazing people. Its really exciting to come to a new theatre and help that development. I've never worked in Manchester so its a bit of a homecoming."

Lyndsay, whose TV work ranges from the current BBC drama From Darkness to Poirot, said she plays Fassbender's wife in Trespass Against Us.

She said: "I really enjoyed working with him, it was lovely. He's wonderful. He's really hard working and really dedicated. Its about a travelling family and a member are trying to leave and go off on his own. Its about children and education and there's lots of things going on in there."

Fassbender has a link to Trafford, playing the lead in Frank, a film inspired by Frank Sidebottom.
