KIDS have been getting into reading thanks to an Altrincham-based author.

Laura Nelson, of Bow Lane, Bowdon, has penned ‘Through the Fairy Door’, the story of a little girl called Rowena who finds a tiny fairy door in her school playground.

“As a child I used to love the magical stories like the Faraway Tree but my favourites were always the ones my Mum told.” said author Laura, 36.

“I used to sit mesmerised while she brought to life stories of magical fairy adventures for my siblings and me.”

The story accompanies Laura’s Altrincham-based business ‘My Own Fairy’, which makes artisan fairy doors for children to place against a wall in their home and let their imaginations run wild.

“I wanted to capture the magic that my own daughters had experienced with their fairy doors and put it in a box for everyone to enjoy” added Laura.

“Childhood goes by so quickly and we want to squeeze every last drop of magic and imagination out of it.”
