KIDNEY-transplant survivor Samuel Clarke of Altrincham has been selected to represent Team GB at the World Transplant Games held in Argentina this August.
Samuel was born with enlarged kidneys, undergoing a transplant at the age of 11.
His selection to Team GB has come as a result of his performance at the Bolton Games where he impressed enough to earn the call-up.
The World Transplant Games, supported by the International Olympic Committee, represents the largest organ donor awareness event in the world, featuring a week of 13 sporting events.
In addition to the training he does at Altrincham Athletic Club in Timperley Village, Samuel must raise £2,000 in sponsorship to confirm his place on the team.
Competing in Shot Put, Badminton Doubles, French Bowls and Javelin in the tournament. Samuel spoke of his excitement at the prospect of representing Team GB.
"It is the first time I will have competed abroad and it is definitely the most exciting thing I've ever done," he said.
Samuel has been supported by various backers to date including charities Kidneys for Life and the British Kidneys Patient Association
Team GB Manager Lynne Holt explained the importance of the games to competitors and what they aim to achieve.
"The opportunity to represent their country, celebrate life and in doing so, paying tribute to their donors, is the goal," she said.
Samuel has raised £1,793 of his £2,000 target to date and you can help by donating to his Just Giving Page: justgiving.com/WTG-Clarke/
