IF Batman and Superman had a barefoot waterskiing battle, what would it look like?

This is the question that 19-year-old student Tom Wadsworth wanted to answer when he embarked on an ambitious video project – and the results are fascinating.

Tom, who is studying for a degree in Product Design at Loughborough University, set up his own youtube channel three years ago, having already experimented with making short films while on holiday in Portugal, America and Iceland.

But it was the nearby River Weaver where he staged his most enterprising project yet.

“I try and shoot thinks a bit differently and tend to think outside of the box,” said Tom. “I’m always on the lookout for new, upcoming trends, so I got in touch with the GB Barefoot Waterskiing Team to see if they were interested in working with me.”

They were, so Tom and three members of the GB Barefoot Waterskiing Team spent a day on the River Weaver filming an elaborate 'battle' between Batman and Superman, followed by weeks of careful editing.

“It was really cold and blowing a howling gale, but we had a great time filming. The athletes were amazing at what they do, especially in the windy and choppy conditions I forced them to go out in!”

The quirky video shows the water-skiers perform tricks and flips as they appear to be flying behind a 45mph boat.

After he has finished his degree, Tom hopes to turn his video skills into a career by helping companies promote themselves.
