FLIXTON Railway Station car park which has reopened after a three month refurbishment.

The new facilities in the park and ride station include resurfacing, cycle storage, landscaping and enhanced safety and security measures including brighter lighting and CCTV.

The car park had been closed since 29 August, to allow the work to be carried out with a nearby public car park being used by commuters as an alternative during the works.

Cllr Andrew Fender, chairman of the TfGM committee, said: “I am delighted that these much needed improvements have now been completed and the car park can re-open.

“This is excellent news for car park users as the works have provided a much safer and more pleasant environment.

“Park and ride facilities are not only free of charge to passengers with a valid ticket but are also a great way to save money, reduce your carbon footprint and help ease congestion on the busy road network and in the city centre.”
