GLAMOROUS Travel, the travel agency founded by Altrincham resident Yan Zhang, is appealing for families to give Chinese people an English Christmas,

The Manchester based firm was set up by Yan, 38, four years ago. She came to England 15 years ago from Sichuan Province in China and now has joint Chinese and British nationality.

A total of 11 families - 30 people in all - have asked if they can join in an English Christmas.

The Woodfield Road resident said: "We want people to home host on December 24 and December 25. We will pay them on a sliding scale and according to how many people they take. They will share their Christmas dinner."

The children will join youngsters from Altrincham Youth Theatre for a drama workshop on December 27 when they will be staying at the Palace Hotel in Manchester.

Then they will travel to London to see The Lion King.

Now a successful businesswoman, Yan's father refused to let her go to university because he disagreed with education for girls.

She eventually got her wish after learning English and she studied Asia Pacific Studies at LeedsUniversity.

Her company provides tailor-made holidays in Europe for Chinese families.

She said: "I love England and I want travellers to experience English culture - not just sightseeing."
