A SCORCHING £5,500 was raised on 26th September when 32 brave souls braved their soles to raise money for local charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

Plucky participants underwent a two-hour training session in the charity’s impressive Sports Hall, before rolling up their trouser legs for the walk of their lives – barefoot - over 20 ft of glowing, red-hot embers – all in the name of charity.

Friends and family were there to cheer on the brave walkers as they put their best foot forward in aid of terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the north west. The charity put on a delicious BBQ, with bread rolls donated by Frank Roberts & Sons, plus a bar which kept spirits high, and those assembled were treated to a breathtaking display of stilt walking and fire dancing courtesy of Gravity Live.

Reptacular Reptiles brought along some scaly and eight-legged friends and challenged spectators to face their fears whilst their nearest & dearest were facing theirs! A raffle followed with impressive prizes such as special spa day for two at Mere Golf Resort & Spa. Live music was provided by volunteer Mike Healey and his band the Acoustic Troubadours.

Tony Collier, managing director of MBL Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisers from Altrincham has supported the charity for many years. Not only did his company sponsor the event, but he got stuck in by taking part in the Firewalk.

He said: “It was a great to support CAFT by sponsoring the Firewalk which ensured that all the funds raised will go directly to CAFT to fund their amazing work down at the farm."

Pippa Watton, senior events fundraiser at CAFT, was thrilled with the success of the event.

She said: “This was a fantastic event which raised vital funds for our charity. We are so grateful to all of the participants who put themselves through this scary challenge and it was great to see so many of their family and friends there to support them.”
