THE dreams of Flixton dancer Amileigh O’Hagan have come true.

The talented young ballerina was selected from more than 200 hopefuls to appear in English Youth Ballet’s production of Coppelia.

Amileigh, who attends Gwyneth Hare School of Dance, will play the role of Swanhilda at Stockport Plaza.

The Abbotsford Prep School pupil said: “I started dancing when I was three. When I was younger I kept seeing everyone dancing and I thought it might be nice to just try and have a go.

" I really love it. I’ve never been in a ballet before and I am so excited because I want to find out new stuff about being a ballet dancer. There is an older girl at my dance school who is very graceful and a really good dancer. I would like to be like her one day.”

She has been rehearsing for the production, which runs from June 13-14 and the rehearsals have given the youngster a taste of what life is like for a professional dancer.

The dedication of the young dancers - she is one of seven Trafford-based performers in the production - has impressed principal ballerina Amy Drew.

She said: “The young dancers we are working with in Stockport have great energy and attack. Working in a professional environment gives the students a unique insight into life in a ballet company. Amileigh is so lucky – I wish there had been something like EYB when I was training.”
