MIKE Kane has spoken of his delight at being elected as the MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East. Mr Kane said: βI am delighted to have been elected as the member of Parliament for Wythenshawe and Sale East.
βIt will be a great honour to represent the residents of Wythenshawe and Sale East but I have big shoes to fill. Paul Goggins was an excellent MP, and throughout the campaign it was clear from the doorstep that Paul was loved and respected by so many people throughout the constituency.β
The by-election was held on February 13 and Mr Kane held the seat for Labour with 13,261 votes.
It was brought about by the death of Paul Goggins, who had represented the constituency since 1997. Mr Goggins on January 7 at the age of 60.
