WORK is under way on the second phase of a regeneration project at the popular Dainewell Park in Sale, which was recently registered as a Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field by Fields in Trust as part of the jubilee celebrations.
The £62,000 project, part of The Dainewell Park Masterplan, is being led by the Friends of Dainewell Park in partnership with Red Rose Forest and The Trafford Partnership.
Phase one of the Masterplan, which was completed at the end of 2012, involved planting an area of orchard trees, the establishment of new hedgerows, resurfacing the multi- sports court, and removing obsolete infrastructure from around the park’s border with Dainewell Woods and Carrington Moss.
The current phase will see the construction of a new all-weather, multi-purpose recreational route around the park.
Funding for the project is coming from The Trafford Partnership and The Veolia Environmental Trust, who have awarded a grant of £31,950 through the Landfill Communities Fund.
