AS tickets for Lake District extravaganza Kendal Calling 2012 went on sale today, a raft of high profile headliners were revealed.

The critically acclaimed festival’s Friday night bill will be topped by Maximo Park, a five-piece rock band hailing from England’s north east.

Leading the charge on Saturday, is rapper Dizzee Rascal, who has had amazing chart success with hits including Fix Up Look Sharp and Bonkers.

Closing the fun-filled event on Sunday are Manchester legends James, an indie institution who, with hits such as Laid and Sit Down, are sure to get the crowd to their feet.

Also on the bill are Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Feeder, Little Roy, Shed Seven, Dodgy, Inspiral Carpets, Benga, ShyFX, Andy C, Vintage Trouble, Twisted Wheel and Ms Dynamite, with hundreds more acts yet to be announced.

This award winning best small festival has sold out six years running and shows no signs of stopping any time soon.

Following on from last year, Kendal Calling are also unveiling a new Twin Peaks style 50’s diner headed up by Tim Burgess from The Charlatans.

The idea for the ‘Tim Peaks Diner’ was borne from Twitter and BBC6music and as Tim pours over the jukebox and coffee, he will curate a weekend of DJs, bands, book readings and comedians.

The music and activities in the Kendal Calling meadow span 11 diverse stages and areas, situated in a close-knit site that means that people are never far from their friends, or a piece of the action.

The festival takes place from July 27 to 29 at the stunning Lowther Deer Park.

Tickets went on sale today (February 23) at 9am with full adult weekend camping tickets costing £105.

Tickets for those aged 11 to 15 are priced at £50 and anyone under 11 can go free. Anyone under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
