ALTRINCHAM Little Theatre will be screening the classic Zeffrell film of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew.
The story starts with rich Paduan merchant Baptista announcing that his younger daughter, Bianca, could not wed until he has found a husband for his older daughter, Katherine, a shrew with a scolding tongue and fiery temper;
Petruchio, a scoundrel from Verona is looking for a wealthy wife.
The question is whether he can succeed in taming her in order to wed her?
A spokesman for the theatre said: “This screening is a replacement for the first production of the season, Fondly Remembered, which, due to tragic circumstances, had to be cancelled.”
Season ticket holders who sent in vouchers for that play will have them credited to the film.
Otherwise, tickets, priced £10 are available from Altrincham Little Theatre at 0161-928 1113 or from alt.theatre@msn.com. Performances are at its Oxford Road theatre from Sunday, February 10, to Saturday, February 16, at 7.40 pm.
