THE Fairbrother family are well-known in the Sale Gang Show.

All five siblings aged between 21 and 37 have appeared in the show over the years.

This year, 26-year-old Joe Fairbrother and his sister, Katy, 21, will appear as will their niece and nephew, Matilda, 10 and Theo, eight.

Katy said: “It is Theo’s first gang show. He is very excited.”

Katy, who has been taking part since she was seven, is now a member of the production team.

She helps with the selection of items to be performed. She also has the responsibility for choreography when James Goodwin can’t attend rehearsals.

“I have choreographed some of the dances myself,” she said.

She pointed out new innovations for this year’s show. The uniformed opening scene will be replaced by a circus scene involving a ring master and colourfully dressed cast.

“I will be an acrobat,” she said.

The Brownies, Cubs and Beavers will, this year, combine and make scenes together.

“This means they have to push themselves,” said Katy.

“Another change will be the increased number of sketches mostly performed by the under 14s.”

She said the circus scene would be an attraction but there were others, too.

“There is one based on Disney which I know will be popular with the audience.

“My favourite is a scene set in a 19th century bar with people wearing fancy frocks and waist coats as they sing songs from the shows.

“The Gang Show cast are like one, big family,”
