WHAT do you do if you're an amateur theatre company with a limited budget and a desire to put on a pantomime?

You write your own of course!

In a bid to avoid sky high royalty fees, St Joseph's Players and Montague Amateur Dramatic Society decided to pool their creative resources and come together to create their own, home grown evening of fun.

This year's offering is Bluebell's Second Chance and cast member Teresa Walsh, who is playing one of the gnomes in the show, says people are definitely in for an evening with a difference.

"It's a musical fairytale - Belladona is star student at Dame Myrtle's Fair Academy but she's not all she seems. Belladona is one of the bad fairies," she says.

The show features a cast of 10 main characters and eight children are also being given the chance to shine on stage, playing the roles of the fairies and Teresa is certain Bluebell's Second Chance is an evening of theatre the whole family can enjoy.

Teresa describes the score as a mixture of romantic tunes and music designed to create the illusion of a fairy world. We also get to hear some unlikely characters sing about some unlikely subjects.

"We've got some gnomes in it who sing a song and we've got a cleaner who sings about cleaning up," she says.

Teresa has been performing in these pantos for the past 18 years and says she's particularly looking forward to singing her solo number in the show.
