It’s great to just get away from it all for a few days and take in some sea air, to simply do nothing but relax.

So that’s exactly what my Val and I did. We had a short break in Llandudno for some well earned rest and recuperation.

We stayed in a dog friendly hotel so we could take our tiny one year old Jackahuahua puppy Betty along with us and we really enjoyed our little escape. The view from the Great Orme was well worth the journey!

On Sunday, September 5 between 12pm and 5pm, there will be a family fun day at Woodsend Field in Flixton, organised by the group of volunteers from Flixton, Urmston and Davyhulme Carnival. There will be a fun fair, fun dog show, live music, charity stalls, trade stalls, a treasure hunt, dance display, trendy tot and bonny baby competitions along with a licensed bar.

We are really looking forward to the fun dog show and will be entering Betty in to a few categories. I know she stands a good chance in the waggiest tail competition!

These family orientated fun days are great for bringing the community together and I hope you will all come out and support this great local tradition. There is always something for everyone at these events.

On September 7 I take up my residency again at Mulino restaurant in Urmston. I will be performing two sets of songs from the Great American Songbook. My first set is from 7.30pm to 8.15pm and my second is from 8.45pm to 9.30pm.

It would be lovely if you came along to my performance. You can book a table by telephoning 0161 286 7819 or you can also come in and use the bar to listen. It was great to meet some Wayne’s World readers at my residency before the lockdowns and I hope to meet some more of you now that I’m able to continue singing there.

My columns over recent months have been a bit scarce due to there not really being a lot of things happening. Now that we are no longer in lockdowns and events are being organised across the borough, I will be writing this column again every week.

With this in mind, please email me on devlinbookings@aol.com if you have any events that you would like me to attend and write about or if you have any shout-outs for your upcoming events or celebratory occasions. I really want to help promote our borough and all those within it through my column so please do get in touch if you have anything you would like to share.

I’ve got lots of things upcoming myself that I’m looking forward to telling you all about and I hope you will continue to read my column each week. I really am very grateful for all your friendship and support.

See you next week, here in Wayne’s World!
