A Hale-based Estate Agents has done battle and got the better of the UK’s toughest property negotiator – Channel 4‘s Phil Spencer – to secure a house sale on primetime television show Relocation, Relocation.

Watersons Independent Estate Agents went head-to-head with the property expert on a episode that’s due to be aired in January 2010.

Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp – made famous by the popular property programme Location, Location, Location – were challenged to find a dream home for a London couple looking to relocate to Cheshire.

After choosing 18 properties and then whittling it down to four homes during the filming of the show, the couple plumped for a beautiful three-bedroom semi-detached cottage on Moss Lane in Timperley. The property is in a highly desirable location given its close proximity to a selection of excellent schools.

The Timperley cottage has been on the market since August with an initial asking price of £279,950. The show reached its famous, nail-biting climax when Watersons Sales Negotiator, Adrian Hibbert, was caught in a battle of wills with the steely negotiator. Phil’s first offer undercut the property’s price tag by nearly £7000. But, unphased by Phil’s fearsome repuation, Adrian stood firm to secure the asking price for the sellers.

Adrian commented: “The programme makers chose a wide variety of homes from across the region, so I couldn’t believe it when we got the call through from Phil to say the couple had whittled 18 properties down to ours – there was such a buzz in the office.

“Phil maybe a renowned and highly regarded property specialist, but I was determined to get the best price possible for the vendors!”

Peter Waterson, founder and Principal at Watersons, added: "Phil Spencer‘s built up an excellent reputation for bagging some real bargains for house hunters across the UK. However, we were not going to let Phil get the better of us – Adrian did a fantastic job for our client.“
