History

Penketh, a well sought-after area of Warrington which boasts great community spirit and offers easy access to all major road networks, and tucked away on the quaint road of Station Road is a wonderful property. In 1862 this unique detached property was built. This elaborate home offered a multiple of rooms including space for servants, milk maids and a suit for the manager of ‘The Tannery’.

In 1881 Thomas Standish, his wife and three children moved into the property, then in 1884 Mr Henry Beakbano, a wine merchant from Jersey moved in with his wife and three children, where two of his children resided at Stocks Lane School. In 1889 John Standish, a vicar and his wife Margaret moved into the property and frequently attended St Marys Church. Then in 1943 a substantial change came to pass when a builder, Cliff Lunt and his wife Elijaha resided in the property. They took on the task to divide this property into two dwellings – continuing to live in number 86. They then proceeded to build number 84 Station Road, a detached property on their land. In June 1946 Mr Boardman and Mrs Fairhurst bought number 86 for £1,942, then due to probate Mr Boswell took over this property. The house was then sold in October 1970 to Mr Laurie and his wife, who still resides in Penketh today. In 1990 both properties where almost reunited into one again as plans to turn the building into a nursing home were put forward. Fortunately for our lovely vendors today this did not come to pass, and they purchased the property in 1992. Now in 2018, New Way Homes are delighted to offer for sale 86 Station Road, a spacious four bedroom semi detached family home which offers great character, potential and history.
