ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (CROSS LANES JUNCTION) (TEMPORARY40 MILES PER HOUR AND 10 MILES PER HOUR SPEED RESTRICTION) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the County of North Yorkshire and County Durham to enable routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Thursday 19 December 2019 for 1 night, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, from 8pm to 6am, at times during the works, to impose a temporary:
(i) 40mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from the B6277 Cross Lanes Junction to 800 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction, a distance of approximately 800 metres;
(ii) 40mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageways from 2500 metres west of the B6277 Cross Lanes Junction, eastwards for a distance of 2500 metres;
The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle. Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and properties, which are accessible from, and only from, the A66. The Order comes into force on the 18 December 2019 and has a maximum duration of three months.
