THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 19-20 NORTHBOUND &

SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP & LINK ROADS) AND

THE M56 MOTORWAY (EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND LINK ROADS)

AND THE A50 TRUNK ROAD (LINK ROAD)

[TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

ORDER 2019

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) Intends to make an Order on the M6 and M56 Motorways and the A50 Trunk Road, in the Boroughs of Cheshire East and Warrington, in the County of Cheshire, to enable structural maintenance works, resurfacing works, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.

that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) Intends to make an Order on the M6 and M56 Motorways and the A50 Trunk Road, in the Boroughs of Cheshire East and Warrington, in the County of Cheshire, to enable structural maintenance works, resurfacing works, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.

(a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on the following sections of the M6 Motorway:



i. the M6 northbound carriageway, from a point 580 metres north



of Old Hall Lane Bridge, to a point 280 metres north of Arley Bridle Road Bridge;

ii. the M6 southbound carriageway, from a point 10 metres south of Crawley Hall Bridge, to a point 740 metres south of Gore Farm Bridge.



(b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 Motorway:



i. the M6 northbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J19 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J20 link road from the M56 westbound joins the carriageway;



ii. the M6 southbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J20A link road to the M56 leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the M6 J19 entry slip road joins the carriageway;



Hi. the M6 J20 northbound to M56 westbound link road, from the last point at which the M6 northbound to the M56 westbound/A50 link road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the M56 westbound to M6 northbound link road joins the carriageway;

iv. the M6 J20 northbound to A50 link road, from the last point at which the M6 northbound link road to the M56 westbound/A50 link road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the M56 westbound to M6 northbound link road joins the carriageway;



v. the M56 eastbound to M6 southbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M56 eastbound to A50/M6 northbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M6 southbound carriageway;



vi. the M6 northbound to M56 westbound/A50 link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M6 northbound carriageway, to the first point at which the link roads to the M56 westbound and A50 split;



vii.the A50 to M6 southbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the A50 to M56 eastbound/westbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M6 southbound carriageway;

viii.the M6 southbound exit slip road at J19;

ix. the M6 northbound entry slip road at J19.

(c) The Order will impose a width restriction of 1.95 metres (6 feet



6 inches) in lanes, as indicated by traffic signs, on the sections of the

M6 Motorway described at (a) i and ii above. Prohibitions (b) are expected to be in place overnight between 22:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 06:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings), during a period starting on Wednesday 17 July 2019 and ending on Monday 30 March 2020.

Restrictions (a) and (c) are expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 00:01 hours on Thursday 18 July 2019 and ending at 23:59 hours on Sunday 29 March 2020.

However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights, or during subsequent continuous periods, until completed.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6, M56 and local roads will be well signed.

The number of running lanes will be maintained on the M6 and M56 throughout the daytime due to high volumes of traffic, as well as during Bank Holiday and event periods.

The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
