THE A66 TRUNK ROAD

(LONG NEWTON INTERCHANGE TO

SADBERGE JUNCTION)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND

PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) NOTICE 2019

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways

England Company Limited intends to make an

Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the Boroughs

of Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington to enable

carriageway resurfacing and road marking

works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start at 8pm on Sunday

23 June 2019 for 17 days, or until completed.

The effect of the order will be, between 8pm

and 6am, at times during the works, to:

(i) close, and at times impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction, on the A66 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Long Newton Interchange to the entry slip road at Sadberge Junction, a distance of 3680 metres;



(ii) close the A66 westbound entry slip road at Long Newton Interchange; and



(iii) close the A66 westbound exit slip road at Sadberge Junction.



During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary to close, for 24 hours a day for the duration of the works, the layby adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 846 metres west of Long Newton Interchange overbridge. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restriction (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 22 June 2019 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
