Firstly, congratulations go to all the outstanding A level results Trafford students have gained this year. These follow previous year’s results which, on the points scores of pupil performance, have seen Trafford as the top ranking authority nationally.

Good luck goes to all the pupils receiving GCSE results this week.

On another note, Trafford's Safeguarding Adults Board has launched a website carrying information and guidance about adult abuse, what it is and what people should do if they suspect someone is being abused. This is part of its campaign to protect vulnerable adults. The website, www.adultprotection.info also provides professionals with information, including details about the borough's joint policy and procedures for dealing with suspected abuse cases. Sadly abuse of vulnerable adults can happen to anyone, anywhere, even in the home, so the importance of making sure that sufficient information and support is available is vital.

Finally, people in Trafford are being invited to hear about adding fluoride to their drinking water. The council is holding a public seminar on 1 September which offers local people the opportunity to learn about the pros and cons of water fluoridation.

The event at Sale Waterside in the Theatre will feature speakers on both sides of the debate and people will be given about to get information along with the chance to ask questions. If you are interested in attending you’ll need to register by contacting Bernie Groucutt on 0161 912 1302 by 28 August. You can also submit questions for the panel before the event.
