Give children the best start in life
12:41pm Friday 25th July 2008 in Your Say
Giving our children the best start in life is extremely important which is why Trafford Council is encouraging parents to find out more about the borough’s children’s centres.
Two more children’s centres are due to have their official openings over the next couple of weeks. Family fun days in Broadheath and Davyhulme have been organised featuring children's entertainment, information and advice stalls from a wide range of services and partner organisations including Bookstart, children's information service and the community police to name but a few.
The first fun day is at Broadheath and Dunham children's centre, Broadheath primary school on Sinderland Road in Altrincham on 26 July between 11am and 2pm. Next Wednesday (30 July) the fun moves to Davyhulme and Urmston children's centre at Davyhulme Library, Hayeswater Road, Urmston from 10am - 2pm. Or to find out more about the centre in your area visit http://www.trafford.gov.uk/EducationAndLearning/PreschoolsAndChildcare/SureStartChildrensCentres If you’ve been to your local library recently you may have seen that new, easy-to-use equipment is starting to be installed to help people take out, return and renew their books at the touch of a button or two. The technology will free up time for staff at all libraries to provide extra services and more information for customers. This means people will be able to get information about council services, report issues and resolve their enquiries at the same time as using their library's wide-ranging facilities.
It's part of a wider council project, bringing together staff from libraries and the council's Trafford Direct information service into a joined-up service called Access Trafford.
