Keep us in the loop regarding hoops

I CAN’T be the only one to notice the recent installation of giant croquet hoops that have sprung up around the borough.

Rumour has it these are to provide secure points for cyclists but I must confess, prior to their arrival, I can’t recall cyclists scratching their heads wondering where they could safely secure their cycles.

Furthermore I have only seen one such hoop being used and that is the one next to Sainsbury’s.

The sheer number of these hoops and their locations beggar belief, there are six on Higher Road, Urmston – including two at the junction with Ciss Lane – and there is one outside the medical practice on Church Road, Flixton, when there are existing security ranks by the front door there!

The question therefore is whose brainchild was this, how were the locations arrived at and, most importantly, what was the cost?

Perhaps someone from Trafford Borough Council would like to come forward with an explanation.
