Volunteer appeal

THE local community in Trafford may be aware that Volunteers Week took place from June 1 - 7.

The week was a chance for us to recognise the huge impact that volunteers make to our community and society in general.

As a volunteer-led organisation, Girlguiding UK is made up of a huge network of volunteers who run activities, manage accounts, advise on adventure and organise large scale events – to name only a few roles.

In Trafford there are hundreds of girls and young women who are part of guiding and experience the excitement, adventure and fun that we can offer in a special girls only environment.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the volunteers in Trafford who make guiding possible. For anyone who is curious to see how volunteering could make a huge difference to their lives I would encourage you to get in touch or visit girlguiding.org.uk/interested. Not only could you make a difference to local girls and young women but believe me, you will gain just as much in return.

Judith Glenn, county commissioner, Girlguiding Greater Manchester West
