Horrified at the plight of pigeons

I WAS so horrified to read in last week’s letters about pigeons being left to die in wire netting at Sale Metrolink station that I contacted the RSPCA. Their advice was that, although Metrolink/GMPTE are entitled to put up the wire as they own the location, they are also obliged to check it daily to minimise suffering and if this is not adhered to we can make a complaint to the RSPCA.

They have asked anyone witnessing trapped birds to call their hotline on 0300 1234 999. I am writing to Metrolink and GMPTE to let them know this. Of course, we are all aware that pigeons are a pest, but quite apart from the suffering this causes, surely leaving dead ones to rot above commuters’ heads is just as much of a health hazard.

Sale town centre is disgrace with the amount of pigeons flying about, its about time Trafford council removed them before the public start shopping in other towns leaving Sale as a ghost town, there are plenty of empty shops already in the Mall.

if there was no pigeons then the magpies would die out, worst type is them wood pidgeons waking you up at about 5am and idiots leaving bird seed out for them, think thats just part of there power trip more than anything to weed out the weakest neighbour to take the **** out of, having dead pigeons over your head though is a disgrace and would urge anyone who see this at any station to contact the number above, as for sale town center i think maybe the rent maybe to high i have noticed orange has had very low footfall in there new store everytime i pass its empty maybe people are sick of the network robbing pay and go customers and talking crap about there signal which is with 3-uk the worst in the sale area
