I WOULD like to let your readers know about the risks of paying someone else's car insurance for them.
I paid, as a favour, my friend’s car insurance last year. I was not aware that if you give your details to pay for car insurance the insurance company have a legal right to use those bank details again to withdraw money from that account even if you havn't given permission. I've had a lot of grief over them taking another £509.50 this June without my permission.
When I phoned FSA they said that the Government have given them this right so that there will be less uninsured cars on the road. So if you paid your wife/husband’s insurance and you split up, the insurance company have a right for the next six years to take money from your account. I think this is totally wrong. It put me in debt. I was charged bank charges, nearly had a nervous breakdown and there's nothing I can do about it. All the insurance company and the bank kept saying was the onus was on the policy holder. Name and address supplied
