SURELY it's now time for Trafford Council to reverse its decision to close the George Carnall Leisure Centre.

George Carnall is only a stones throw from the border with Stretford so if the Stretford 'Masterplan' goes ahead, then with the extra influx of people and occupancy in the area it will be even more imperative that the centre stays open.

The new proposals with further investment into Urmston Leisure Centre will do absolutely nothing to help accommodate George Carnall so there will be a massive void in the area for leisure facilities.

At a time when Trafford is announcing plans to spend millions of pounds on its leisure facilities it recently issued a statement to the Messenger. This said that they believe it is imperative to secure improved health and wellbeing outcomes and one way of doing this is via increased levels of physical activity and their ambition in Trafford is for every resident to become more active, because we know it has immeasurable benefits to people's health and wellbeing.

So to close such a vital and essential leisure centre would be a contradiction of what they are saying and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
