I THOUGHT that I must pass comment on this ridiculous situation regarding the charging/tax on green garden waste recycle bins in Trafford starting June 2017.
We are all actively encouraged to recycle household waste and what a farce this is, you have to have a PhD in Garbology to determine what plastics alone should be recycled etc.
Plastic drinking bottles OK but not the plastic tops, absolutely no plastic yoghurt or margarine/butter cartons including plastic food trays it’s a ‘minefield’ and this is just plastics!
It has taken quite a few years to persuade the masses to recycle household waste in the correct way and I can see a lot of this work being undone.
Fly tipping will increase massively on top of the already epidemic of fly tipping around the borough (take Roaring Gate Lane lay-by) the lane to Manchester Airport.
Forget the idea that everyone will jump in a car and drive to the tip with garden waste, what about the people who have not got a car or can’t drive?
Garden waste will inevitably be put ‘stealth’ with other waste undoing years of legitimate recycling.
Yet again all down to pounds, shillings and pence, save a little but create havoc.
Well done Trafford Council.
