NO wonder our local roads are potholed and crumbling with faded markings.
In March 2002, Trafford set a highways budget for the year of £21.6 million.
Step forward 15 years and the same budget has been chopped to £8.1 million.
This is a reduction of 63 per cent yet in the same period council tax (excluding police and fire) has increased by 65 per cent, about 10 per cent ahead of RPI inflation.
The MOT test requires drivers to keep their cars in first class condition, how many of our roads would fail an independent stringent examination?
Quite simply many roads are not fit for our cars anymore.
