YOUR correspondent Tommy Stott has it 100 per cent correct! (SAM 2/2/2017, 'Wellbeing first') Not since Napoleon have our armed forces been so weak! He makes a good case for cancelling the absurdity of ordering new Trident nuclear submarines, not forgetting the American built Trident missiles, and diverting the estimated cost, anything between £100-150billion, to rebuilding our conventional forces.

Many will have seen and heard of the spoof Royal Navy posters that have appeared at bus stops across London. Titled "Become a suicide bomber" in Trident submarines!

Former Royal Navy weapons engineer William McNeilly was kicked out of the Navy after handing over to WikiLeaks a list of serious safety and security failures in 2015.

McNeilly tells us that if a submarine begins to launch its missiles it immediately becomes a target itself. Submariners know that once they launch missiles at Russia they will have given their position away and will not survive the retaliation coming their way!

That's why they jokingly refer to themselves as suicide bombers, they kill millions and are in turn blown to smithereens.

Another joke, and it is on us all, is that in the highly unlikely event of any PM wanting to launch Trident missiles he/she must ask Uncle Sam's permission. The USA has the launch codes so there goes our supposedly 'independent nuclear deterrent'!

Mr Stott is right, stop wasting £billions on pointless weapons of mass destruction and instead put it into medical research.
