MR Norman is correct in every aspect of his letter in that refugees should be stopping in the nearest country to their own, but presumably all the oil-rich Muslim countries in the Middle East cannot be bothered to help them.

There is plenty of space in Iran and Saudi Arabia; why not take refuge in those countries?

The answer is that they are not such a soft touch as the UK: their income from oil is spent on nuclear development, and building palaces and buying property in London.

No doubt Mr Ennis would like to see large estates built on what is left of “the green belt”, to house the hundreds of refugees, which would create problems for future generations here, as these people would want to pursue their own customs, and create more isolated ghettos.

As has been shown by the recent report, we have large numbers of people who were immigrants in the past, who still refuse to accept that this is a western country, and not part of Southern Asia, Africa or the Middle East.
