I was delighted to read the comments made about my letter on Brexit.
After I left Stamford Park and Manchester Grammar I joined the British Army at Durham University because I wanted to allow our people to be free and when we at times disagree that is the basis of democracy.
The EU is a myth in that it promotes itself as the defender of freedom and champions prosperity when in truth it is the enemy of both.
We have the best universities in Europe, a work force second to none and with our global connections from the Commonwealth and our international role in a world that speaks English we have an ability to access export markets like no other nation.
Our Commonwealth friends want trade not aid and the EU patronises them.
As a former director of a small business Brexit will be great for business as John Longworth has confirmed.
For once let us all believe that our nation and people can prosper, compete and win because I do.
Peter Booth,
Hale
