I RECENTLY contacted Trafford/Amey Highways Dept, for the second time in 12 months, about the HGVs that insist on ignoring the signs and bollards around the Clay Lane area between Timperley and Newall Green.

Recently, if I had not slapped my brakes on, I would have been crushed by a huge articulated truck on one of the tight bends.

He was travelling far too fast and made no attempt to brake or even avoid me. I didn't even have time to see if it was a foreign or British truck.

I have been stuck many times while these idiots try to 10-point turn through the bollards or negotiate round the worse of the bends.

What use are bollards at one end of a road that has three entrances and what use is the tiny little "Unsuitable for HGVs" sign to drivers who think they can ignore them at will.
