Trafford own the land of the William Wroe Golf Course. So it is easy for them to build houses on it.
But is it sensible to concrete over the green heart of Urmston?
When the large housing estates were built in Urmston in the 1920s and 1930s, Ernest Leeming, the district surveyor, insisted on parks, grass verges and trees.
We owe him a deep debt of gratitude. Our council should not concrete over our green space, they should use their planners to find other more difficult land to build on. If the golf course is to be closed then it should become a nature reserve and park.
