RE: THE report about Ray Payne being missed on Remembrance Sunday selling poppies at Eden Square, Urmston (Messenger, November 17).

I am a member of the British Legion and have known Ray from when he became the official poppy seller for Urmston Legion.

Even when Urmston Legion closed, he still carried on selling the poppies.

I can only wonder how upset he must be to be told they are standing him down.

In view of the large amount of sale he did on previous remembrance Sundays, can the same officials now make a statement of the amount collected on Saturday and Sunday this year.

Maybe, also, the reason why the change was made.
