What is the mentality of Lycra-clad cycling bullies who zoom past people barely inches away?

Do they get a thrill out of scaring the living daylights out of walkers?

On Saturday morning I was walking my dog along the new canal pathway at Broadheath. A very quiet and peaceful morning was ruined by one such idiot.

Playing throwball for my Jack Russell I was almost run down from behind by a grey haired inconsiderate fool who sped past me at high speed catching my coat as he did so.

If I had stepped one foot to my left as this fool raced past I would have been seriously injured with both of us possibly ending up in the canal itself!

Motor vehicles have horns to alert people on the road of their presence, so why not cyclists?

All cycles should by law be fitted with a bell or horn to warn pedestrians of their presence.

I shudder to think what would have happened to me if this elderly boy racer had clattered into me.

Or perhaps I have it all wrong, I thought this path is for all, joggers, walkers and considerate cyclists, or is it a cycle racetrack?
