THE decision to approve the application made by Kirkland that will see a supermarket built in Sale Moor illustrates the blatant disregard members of Trafford’s Planning and Development Committee have for local community, who, prior to the meeting, had made it overwhelmingly clear that there was little support for it.
As vice-chair of the Planning and Development Committee, councillor Daniel Bunting’s comments reported in this paper are particularly egregious; the examples he uses as comparison sites fail to support his argument.
When so much has been done to champion, rightly, the independent traders moving into the area around Altrincham’s Market Hall, it is to the committee’s great shame that they have failed to support the businesses and wider community in Sale Moor.
