I FIRST met Betty in the early 1970s when we were both elected members of Sale Borough Council. She was a tireless worker for the local community, not only through her work as a councillor and a leading magistrate but through her involvement in many local voluntary groups, including Sale Festival. Her enthusiasm and commitment will be sadly missed.
