WHEN Napoleons Bonaparte said that England was a nation of shopkeepers, Urmston must have been left on the sidelines.
ever since, 1997, when the Co-op closed its doors after 100 years, Urmston's town centre had had more ups and down than a roller coaster at Blackpool.
At one time, thee were so many shops closing down that Urmston was taking on the appearance of a ghost town.
Today, with millions of pounds being spent revamping Urmston, include a Sainsbury's supermarket, hopefully new life will be pumped into the town.
I'm sure at the end of the day, customer loyalty will shine through and return Urmston to the bustling days of the 1960s.
