THE hundreds of local residents who use Timperley Library will be disappointed at the Tory leader of Trafford Council's refusal to answer my straightforward questions ('Library Ward of Words', Messenger, March 17 2016).
Before our well-used library is demolished to make way for luxury flats, a medical centre and replacement library, we need to know:
- Will the new library be big enough to house ALL the services currently provided?
- Will the number of books and computer facilities be maintained?
- Will the opening hours remain the same and present staffing levels be continued?
- How will the library service be maintained during construction?
He may dismiss it as a 'storm in a teacup' but local community groups who use the library need to know if they will have a home in the future.
One thing we do know. The number of free parking spaces is planned to be reduced from 125 to just 77. The loss of 48 parking spaces in the new development will compound the parking chaos that currently exists in our Village centre.
It's time for some answers, Councillor Anstee.
